OOTW - October 17 - Sweater Weather Week

The leaves aren't the only things dropping this time of year - the temperatures are going down as well. And with lower temperatures, comes higher fashion. This week is Sweater Weather Week, where we put a spotlight on the warmest, most fashionable sweaters, sweatshirts and hoodies of the season. Here are five Trailblazers that showed up to school looking the cutest and the coziest.

Look one:
This girl is looking super adorable with this long light pink sweater and ripped jeans. I love sweaters with lighter tones because they give people’s outfits a softer more relaxed feel. Pink and yellow can make your skin glow because us humans have either pink or yellow undertones in their skin. This shirt makes this girl look fresh faced and brings attention to her beautiful smile. Ripped jeans are also very trendy this season. If you want, you can rip your own jeans with a simple pair of scissors and tweezers, but please don’t cut yourselves, okay?

Samantha McGillivray, Grade 10

Look two:
I really like this look and I’ll tell you why; layers. I’m such a fan of layering shirts over each other. It’s warmer and it can make two simple pieces look like one crazy cool piece. This girl put a plaid button down underneath this light grey sweatshirt and matched it with black ripped jeans (everybody is wearing them!!) and some ankle cut Dr Martens. The cool thing about putting grey and black together is that when you put a colourful piece or accessory with it, it makes that piece stand out. This outfit makes her plaid shirt pop and I’m totally digging it. You go girl!

Side note: Mia has been dying to get a picture in front of the frog painting and finally got one. This is a huge moment for her guys. So I hope your hearts double tap this pic.
Danielle, Grade 9

Look three:
This girl is one of my friends and is always looking good. She’s one of my top five “would raid through their closet”. She’s killing it with these patterns and colours and I’m totally into it. My favourite part of this outfit is the sweater. It’s thick and looks SO warm while being cropped and patterned. It’s like my ideal man as a sweater. It’s fun, but still has a warm depth to it. She matched it with these forest green high waisted flared jeans that end at the ankle and let her white trainers have a moment of their own. So well put together. It made my fashion heart very happy.

Look four:
Guys can rock patterns too! I love the funky design on this guy’s shirt and how enthusiastic he was to take a picture for me. The way that the grey in his shirt and his shorts make the patterns stand out is genius. Cool shapes and rad colours like these deserve to be put on display, so try not to shadow them with another insane design. Let those colours breathe! Also, good thing this hoodie looks warm to make up for his exposed legs in this fall weather. I love this guy’s energy, confidence and fashion sense. Keep it up bro!
Alex Choe, Grade 9

Look five:
This girl is super cool. I love her sense of humour and her sense of style. She’s killing the fashion game in this loose black graphic sweatshirt and camouflage pants. I love camo, and everybody should own something camo because it’s super slick and goes with anything - even more camo! Her shoes look super comfy and are totally cute. Moccasins are great for fall because they’re warm but, they absorb water which means they can’t be a winter shoe. This season is the season for mocs. I’m also a fan of the choker. Super in the season. Love.

Side note: her shirt says “Fall in love with someone who treats you how Kanye would treat Kanye”, which reminds me of a great couple costume idea I had for Halloween: Kanye and Kanye. Haha.

This has been another issue of Outfits Of The Week. Thanks for reading and thanks to all the Ridge students who let us take their pic! If you see Mia and I roaming the school and you think you know someone who has what it takes to be one of Ridge Report’s Outfits Of The Week let us know and we might feature them in our next issue!

Till next time,
Mercedes
