Amazing Spider-man #2 review

STK639259After the relaunch of the Amazing Spider-man, Peter Parker has had his world flipped upside down and the second issue continues the tale of the wall crawler dealing with the damage Otto Octavius has done to his personal life.

After the introductory first issue, major events happen in the second issue, making the pace rapid and ongoing. To antagonize Spider-man this issue is Electro, who has a beef with Spider-man after the Superior Spider-man enslaved him for his "Superior Six". The battle between Spider-man and Electro is dynamic and flashy as usual, with the artist, Humberto Ramos, using his strength in illustrating battle scenes to make it explosive and visually appealing. Staff of Serapis Review

When Rick Riordan announced the Son of Sobek, excitement was high. As the official crossover between the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series and the Kane Chronicles series, the short story was huge news. While the Son of Sobek was a solid read, it didn't really have the gravitas or high magnitude we were expecting. However, Riordan continues the storyline in a sequel called the Staff of Serapis, which stars female leads of the respective series's and has managed to send the series soaring.

One decade ago, Sam Raimi directed Spider-man 2 which became a beloved classic and still stands today as one of the finest superhero films of all time. When Marc Webb directed the reboot, the Amazing Spider-man, he managed to create a stronger origin story than the 2002 version, but he was unable to top the 2004 sequel as the strongest Spider-man film. This time, Marc Webb has made his own sequel, which was an improvement over the first, but did he finally manage to beat out the classic with his Amazing Spider-man 2, or does Spider-man 2 still outshine all of Webb's efforts? Let's go bit by bit comparing the two versions. (warning: minor spoilers for each film may occur)

Amazing Spider-man #1 Review

With a new Spider-man movie hitting theaters, Marvel needed to create a special issue to commemorate the event, and the return of the wall-crawler's original title was what they offer.

A bit of back-story for those who aren't familiar with the past year of Spider-man comics. In Amazing Spider-man #700, longtime Spider-man foe, Dr. Octopus switched brains with Spider-man and subsequently killed Parker off in his former body. After Parker's death, Otto decided to redeem himself and become a hero as the new Spider-man- the superior Spider-man. The Amazing Spider-man- a comic series that had been running for 50 years- was cancelled and Otto got his own title, The Superior Spider-man.
