Ronak's Fantasy Football Love/Hate list for Week 8

On Fridays I will be submitting a Love/Hate list for Fantasy Football. These will be my opinions on Quarterbacks and Running backs (and occasionally flex’s) that I believe will tank or flourish in the week.

Quarterbacks I love this week

Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles)
  • First of all, the Philadelphia Eagles are 6-1 (the best record in the NFL), and the hottest team right now.
  • The 49ers are currently tied with the Browns for the worst record in the league at 0-7.
  • Currently Carson Wentz is throwing for 257 yards per game, and has a 17-4 Touchdown-Interception ratio.
  • Philadelphia is also a solid defense, that allows 15.4 points per game. This will allow Carson Wentz to get back on the field more.

Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers)
  • The Panthers are coming off a poor loss in Chicago. This week they are playing the 2-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • The Bucs are one of the worst defenses in the league.
    • Giving up 400+ yards per game
      • 300 being passing yards
  • Quarterbacks this season against TB’s Defense:
    • All quarterbacks against the Bucs have 270+ passing yards.
  • Cam Newton does have a 9-10 TD-Int ratio, but don’t let that be a red flag.

Others that I love:
  • Case Keenum
  • Jameis Winston
  • Philip Rivers

Quarterbacks I hate this week:

Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers) @Det
  • He is going up against a top 3 fantasy defense.
  • The Detroit Lions have scored 5 defensive touchdowns this season.
  • Ben Roethlisberger is also one of the worst QB’s on the road, which he is this week, so he is an unreliable play at QB1 this week.

Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) vs. Pit
  • The Steelers defense is the 2nd best defense in the league.
  • The Steelers defense is number one against the past, allowing 147 passing yards per game.
  • The Steelers are also only allowing 16.6 points per game, which is 3rd in the league.

Others that I hate:
  • Drew Brees
  • Derek Carr
  • Russell Wilson

Running Backs I love this week

Devonta Freeman (Atlanta Falcons) @NYJ
  • The Falcons are playing a decent Jets team this week.
  • The Jets are 28th in the league against the run, allowing 126.6 rushing yds per game.
  • All RB1’s have 8+ points in fantasy against the Jets this season

Chris Thompson (Washington Redskins) vs. DAL
  • Thompson averages 96.6 yards from scrimmage
  • Dallas is middle of the table for defensive yard allowance.
    • This is a great sign for Thompson who is one of the most versatile backs in the league. When Thompson has a poor game from the backfield he catches a lot of passes and vice versa.

LeSean McCoy (Buffalo Bills) vs. OAK
  • Oakland have allowed 113.9 rushing yards per game.
  • The Bills are 2nd in the league in Rushing attempts per game at 31.8 per game
  • This Raiders team has really started to fall and struggle on defense

Others that I love
  • Le’veon Bell
  • Ezekiel Elliott
  • Mark Ingram

Running Backs I hate this week

Jerick McKinnon/Latavius Murray (Minnesota Vikings) @CLE
  • The Cleveland Browns, believe it or not, are 5th in the league against the run, with opponents averaging 83.7 rushing yards per game.
  • These backs are still sharing the backfield and it is not clear every week which elite back will get the majority of the touches.
  • Until a starting back is set in stone, both are unreliable

Carlos Hyde (San Francisco 49ers) @PHI
  • The 49ers are one of the worst offenses in the league and have an 0-7 record
  • The Eagles are the number 1 defense against the run, with opponents averaging 67.0 rushing yards per game.
  • The 49ers are also only averaging 96 rushing yards per game. Hyde may be the lead back in San Fran, but he is not getting all of the yards that he could be

Kareem Hunt (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. DEN
  • Denver is one of the elite defenses in the league, and one that you do not want to mess with.
  • Denver is the 2nd best run defense in the league at 71.8 rushing yards per game
  • Kareem Hunt is forming into elite back, but this week could be his biggest test yet.
  • He has gone 3 weeks without a trip to the end zone, however he has had 100+ yards from scrimmage in those games.
  • This week, I have a doubt in me that says that Hunt will not perform.

Tune in next week for my Love/Hate list for Week 9

*This is based on non-PPR scoring*
