Thursday the 28th was the Ridge’s amazing annual Terry Fox Walk.
Staff and students from every grade joined together in the morning after a shortened first period to celebrate and participate in our yearly Terry Fox Walk. This walk’s purpose is to raise money for cancer research, and to remember Canada’s own, Terry Fox, and the sacrifices he made to help make a difference for the whole world.

Although it was a chilly morning, that didn't stop all students and staff members from joining in to make donations and to walk around the whole designated path to support the cause. It was great to witness almost 1500 students come together to show their support for their school, as well as for the charity we've been supporting and donating to for years now to find a cure for various types of cancer. You could even feel the large amounts of energy from everyone at the incredible event and you could see all the happy faces of friends doing their part for the school community while also having a good time socializing with one another. This just goes to show that even through rain, shine or even an uncomfortable chilly morning, the Ridge’s special spirit is always ready to show its full support for anything.

All throughout the walkway, students in grades 11 and 12 in the Athletic Council were holding various signs with shocking facts about cancer in Canada, for staff and students to read as they walked by. Students and staff of the Athletic Council also also took this valuable opportunity to help advertise school merchandise from the Pink Campaign such as sweatshirts and T-shirts

As people reached the end of the designated track, everyone was surprised and thrilled to see some tables set up as a booth to offer cups of water and Timbits to all the participants of the walk. Of course the booth ran out quickly, and people near the end of the pack did miss out on the special free treat. Even though it was unfortunate that everyone didn't get to enjoy the special surprise, it was a nice cooldown for the participants of the walk to take a break and to drink some water. It was also great to see the Athletic Council prepare such an amazing event and a well-kept surprise.

The entire event was spectacular and I believe that the whole student body thought the early morning walk to be a great start to their day. We should all give a big thanks and a shout out to our excellent Athletic Council, as well as our unbelievable school for running another incredible event at The Ridge. All in all, it was another fantastic year for the Ridge’s annual Terry Fox Walk, and it has become a long-lasting tradition for everyone to love and to remember here at Iroquois Ridge.
