Interact's Nicaragua Silent Auction 2014

Every year, the IRHS Interact Club sends a group of students on a trip to a developing country to do some community work. These students take the Rotary motto of "Service above Self" to an international scale and push the boundaries of what we as high school students can do to make a change.

This year, Interact members will be flying to Nicaragua. Of course, to go on a trip like this, lots of money has to be spent. To support this amazing initiative, we at IRHS help organize and attend fundraisers to help save these students some heavy costs. A recent fundraiser was the Silent Auction held on Tuesday, December 16th.

The night was a well organized one. Kudos to the Nicaragua team for going out of their way to not only hold a successful fundraiser, but host a delightful night. A lot of work was put in accumulating a lot of items for the auction and by the time the event came around, the team boasted a rather impressive collection.

The items sold at this auction included Raptors tickets, an XBox Kinect, Golf Lover's set, an Italian food basket, and more. There were a lot of items worth bidding for and a lot of lucky people walked away that night with a lot of cool swag.

Meanwhile, the team did a good job of making sure the time spent between the bidding and having the winners announced didn't get tedious. Food was given out during the entire night and live performances from some of the Ridge's Most Talented were effective in entertaining those attending.

Special thanks to Interact's Nicaragua team for hosting such an enjoyable evening. If you weren't able to attend and are bummed out at the prospect of missing out on some of the great items sold, don't worry! An online auction is being held to sell any goods that weren't purchased, so make sure to check it out. It's a great opportunity to get some cool stuff just in time for the holidays, and support this amazing initiative.
