What Does the Sport Suspension mean for Fans?Aarush Chawla

Tony Parker, Rudy Gobert and the world of the black international ...

Watch idiotic moment NBA star Rudy Gobert jokingly smears germs on ...
It all started on March 11 2020, a player on the Utah Jazz, Rudy Gobert, unanimously won Defensive Player of the Year. He was successfully able to shut down 3 sports leagues on the same day after he was tested for Coronavirus. Earlier to the game he had touched a lot of sports equipment, as a joke to show he was immune to the virus. However, later it was confirmed that he was infected, causing the NBA to be suspended due to fears of an outbreak. This caused 3 of North America’s most followed leagues, the NHL, NBA and MLB to be suspended indefinitely. The effect: over 200 million fans lose access to their daily TV watch list. So, the big question is? What does it mean for us and what do we turn to for entertainment?

This broadcast brought to you exclusively by Aarush Chawla, writer for Ridge Report will feature all the interesting sports topics to look into during your isolation.

SPORTS HIGHLIGHT #1: NBA 2K20 Challenge

FEATURING: Kevin Durant, Hassan Whiteside, Trae Young, Andre Drummond and many more

On April 3 2020, the NBA 2K 20 tournament kicked off. This is a 16-player tournament where star players from teams all over the NBA compete to see who can take bragging rights for winning the Video game cup. Proceeds will be donated to a Coronavirus relief fund. Now it is time for the analysis. The remaining players in the tournament are Rui Hachimura who goes up against Devin Booker, Derrick Jones Jr. vs Monstrell Hatrell, Trae Young vs Deandre Ayton, and Patrick Beverley vs Andre Drummond. The interesting matchup in the quarter finals is easily Devin Booker vs Rui Hachimura. Devin Booker is known to be an immense gamer and is also part of an elite gamer league. But wait, what about Rui. Well, he just so managed to beat Donovan Mitchell in an intense matchup that was down to the last 3-point buzzer beater. I feel that this matchup will be down to court vision and who will be able to capitalize on turnovers. In my opinion, although this tournament has had it's upsets like Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell exiting in the first round, it also is filled with matchups that every fan should watch during their quarantine.

It’s fair to say that this tournament is filled with surprises and it will be down to the wire to see who will exit and translate their basketball skills into a virtual game. Stay tuned!

Special Broadcast: Soccer Time

Although the Soccer season seems over and new additions to teams seem unlikely, I believe that it is time to make fans ponder on who their favourite teams might have transferred

We’ve come up with a few list of players who seem likely to be transferred

Neymar

Neymar left PSG in hopes of securing the world spotlight. Although he was able to achieve his goal, he now feels that joining Antoine Griezmann, Messi and Suarez to form the most powerful quad-squad will cement his legacy and create a unimaginable super team.

Kylian Mbappe

A 20-year-old soccer star is unlikely the world has ever seen before, but a living example is in Kylian Mbappe. This 20 year old Frenchman who runs as a rabbit and shoots like a Ninja turtle has become the highlight of the transfer world and could soon be on Real Madrid’s top buy to help fill the hole left by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lautaro Martinez

The 22-year-old Argentine has suddenly become on the world spotlight. In just 22 appearances for Inter Milan he was able to score 11 goals and has left traces of even becoming the next Messi. His excellent ball handling and footwork has left fans in awe.

SPORTS HIGHLIGHT #2: When will Sports finally be on

I call out all sports fans. The fans who watch the late Friday overtime games, as the thrill and curiosity overpowers their sleep. Sports fans I ask you, is the NBA hosting a Horse Competition enough for us? Does it satisfy our crave for watching our teams play and the thrill of hearing a Pascal Alley-oop? No! It raises the question when we can regain our semblance of a sporty life? I believe that the time is too early. Although leagues are pushing towards a Horse Competition featuring star players it will still be long before the games will start.

Zack Britton reveals MLB has discussed neutral site games - New ...But wait, what about the MLB? Well thankfully the commissioner of the MLB, Rob Manfred, hopes that he can start the season in Arizona where there are many parks and less interaction with fans. In my opinion it is a good idea, but raises all sorts of concerns for social distancing and how to manage traffic and fan to fan interactions. I feel that teams should host private games in unspecified locations so that there is far fewer fans and social interactions, but trophies can still be awarded to the winners. Although sports is expected to start in late June, it seems likely to address the question. Which team will innovatively satisfy our sports craze first?
