On Fridays I will be submitting a Love/Hate list for Fantasy Football. These will be my opinions on Quarterbacks and Running backs (and occasionally flex’s) that I believe will tank or flourish in the week.
Quarterbacks that I love this week:
*Deshaun Watson (Houston Texans) vs. Ind
- Other than the fact that Watson is the hottest Quarterback in the NFL. Watson has thrown for 294.4 yards per game since Week 3.
- He may have thrown for 300 yards per game, but he has a TD-Int ratio of 3.6-1.4 as well.
- Watson has 19 TDs since the start of the season which is tied for the top spot in the league.
*I have just revised this article and saw that I had put this sensational rookie on my Love list. He has sadly suffered a tragic season-ending injury in practice on Thursday. I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.*
Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) vs. TB
- Drew Brees is currently throwing for 279 ypg and 1.7 TD’s per game.
- The Buccaneers are always a good matchup for QBs.
- They allow 405.6 ypg and 274.7 of them are passing yards.
- They allow 29.8 points and 12 Passing Touchdowns per game.
Quarterbacks that I hate this week:
Marcus Mariota (Tennessee Titans) vs. Bal
- The Ravens are the 5th best defense against the pass.
- They give up 184.5 yards per game and have only given up 9 TD’s and have 12 Interceptions
Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles) vs. Den
- Denver is one of the most respected secondaries in the league. The “no-fly zone” has only allowed 188.1 passing yards per game.
- The Denver pass rush is consistently putting pressure on the pocket. Meaning the quarterback is always under pressure, including the former Super Bowl MVP Defensive End, Von Miller.
Others that I love:
- Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams) @NYG
- Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) vs. KC
Running Backs I love this week:
Adrian Peterson (Arizona Cardinals) @SF
- Peterson may not be playing his best football, however, he is still a hall of fame ballot Running Back.
- This week he is playing one of the worst defenses, let alone teams in the league, the 49ers.
- The 49ers are allowing an average of 23.25 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs
Lamar Miller (Houston Texans) vs. IND
- Miller is a steady producer with his lowest performance at around 5 points.
- This week he has a very favorable matchup against the Colts.
- The Colts have allowed 31.8 points and 376 yards (on avg).
- The Colts give up an average of 20.8 fantasy points per game to opposing Running Backs.
- As of the time that I am writing this, Deshaun Watson has been downgraded to OUT for the SEASON. Other than the fact that this Rookie was turning into a superstar, and his amazing season was brutally cut short in practice, this hurts the Texans passing game on a whole nother level.
- This will open up more carries and opportunities for Miller in the running game, and a lot more dump off pass as Tom Savage gets back into form with the team.
Others that I love:
- LeSean McCoy (Buffalo Bills) @NYJ
- Ameer Abdullah (Detroit Lions) @GB
Christian McCaffrey (Carolina Panthers) vs. Atl
Running Backs I hate this week:
Frank Gore (Indianapolis Colts) @Hou
- Frank Gore is on his way to the hall of fame but this week he has a very tough matchup.
- He is playing the Houston Texans, and the only teams to have monster run games are the Jaguars and the Chiefs.
- Both of which have elite rookie backs in the form of Leonard Fournette and Kareem Hunt
- The Texans allowed only 3 double-digit fantasy point games this season
C. J. Anderson (Denver Broncos) @Phi
- Anderson was in form last year, however, this year he has only had 2 double digit games.
- As an RB2 coming into the season, he has declined into a week to week flex option.
- Philadelphia is also the 5th ranked defense against the run allowing only 43.5 rushing yards per game to opponents.
Others that I hate:
- Devonta Freeman (Atlanta Falcons) @Car
- Rob Kelley (Washington Redskins) @Sea
Wide Receivers I love this week:
Dez Bryant (Dallas Cowboys) vs. KC
- The Cowboys are playing the Chiefs this week, even though they are one of the best teams in the league at the moment. The KC Defense has allowed 261.1 yards per game and is giving up 7.5 yards per catch.
- The Chiefs have are tied for 4th in the league for passing TD’s allowed
- Dak Prescott is 3rd in the league in passing TDs with 14.
DeAndre Hopkins (Houston Texans) vs. IND
- Deshaun Watson has the hot hand this season and is showing any signs of slowing down.
- Hopkins is the number one receiver in Houston and is averaging almost 90 yards per game.
- With Watson so hot, sitting Hopkins would be a waste every week.
- As of the time that I am writing this, Deshaun Watson has been downgraded to OUT for the SEASON. Other than the fact that this Rookie was turning into a superstar, and his amazing season was brutally cut short in practice, this hurts the Texans passing game on a whole nother level.
- I had already written Hopkins’ section of the article. But I love him this week a little less. Savage will rely on him and his beastliness this weak against Indianapolis and will get his fair share of targets.
Wide Receivers I hate this week:
A. J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals) @Jax
- No matter how you look at it, the Bengals passing game is not going to perform this week.
- They are playing the top pass defense in the league.
- The Jags are the best in the league, allowing only 161.7 passing yards per game.
- They have also allowed only 4 Touchdowns all year
- This should be enough for you to bench Green this week.
Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons) @Car
- Carolina is the 3rd best against the pass in the league, allowing 182.4 yards, however, they have allowed 10 receiving TD’s as well.
- The Panthers are only allowing 17.8 ppg and the Falcons offense is really struggling
- Julio Jones has only caught one TD pass all season and even that one he had to rip out of the defender's hands because of Matt Ryan’s poor pass.
Tune in next week for my Love/Hate list for Week 10
