Creating A Sustainable Christmas: How To Reduce Paper Waste Created By Junk Mail

Holiday junk mail is not only a nuisance, but it may also be harming our ecosystems, which isn’t holly-jolly at all. Mail around the holidays was once something special. Opening your mailbox in the month of December used to be an exciting experience of receiving hand-written cards, Christmas packages, and invitations for yuletide gatherings. Nowadays, mailboxes are stuffed with junk mail such as advertisements for things we won’t buy, coupons that will expire before we can use them, and catalogues for things we will just order off of Amazon instead. Despite “real” mail being in steep decline, advertisers are mailing more than ever over the holidays.

Ford V Ferrari Review

Ford V Ferrari was set in a time when Ferrari was dominating the podium at the legendary race of 24 hours of Le Mans. The Ford Motor Company was facing a sales crisis, and felt that they weren’t really being recognized by the younger generation.

The solution they devised? Easy. Beat Ferrari at their own game to attract the attention they needed.

Easier said than done might be an understatement.

Ford went to Carroll Shelby, played by Matt Damon, who we now know as the maker of the Shelby Mustang, for help building and designing the car. It would go on to be called the GT40.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day
By: Claire Celia Mae Tennant

We’ve all grown accustomed to the bright red poppy worn throughout the beginning of November. Even though Remembrance Day occurs every year it’s easy to forget the importance of it. Remembrance Day isn’t only for remembering the past wars, lives lost and sacrifices, but also the present wars happening in countries around the world. Lives are being lost in the present. Although November 11th is Remembrance Day, we must remember everyday throughout the year of the past and present sacrifices of soldiers have made for you. Allowing you to live in peace and freedom.

This is the 6th skeleton season emitted from Melissa McKerlie’s home, whose backyard is a fest for all passing-bys. Located in Vivian Line 37 in Stratford, ON, it has displayed 100 skeletons without repeats from every Thanksgiving Monday until November 1st. Annual skeleton displays collaborate so many fresh ideas and fun, covering different aspects of daily life.

There are a lot more endowments of this incredible Skeleton Family — Trick, Or, Treat, Skin-Ann, Bones, Grim, Reaper & Scowly the Owl, And Pumpkin the Rat & Spidey out of your expectation. Vitality is one of their greatest features from all the activities: riding the rail, soups’ on, pumpkin testing contest, the great closet escape, taking time off on Rome, celebrate weddings, or even go back to school just like you and me! Never underestimate the talent of skeletons! If you would like to release your talent and start another revel with them, contact Melissa: bones@skeletonsofvivianline.com.

Simultaneously, Skeletons are beyond cheers in Fall Carnival they are contributors of donations for Operation Smile Canada. As Melissa said, “the Skeletons’ goal every day is to make you smile”, raising money to gift a child in a developing country suffering from cleft lip, palate and facial deformities with a beautiful smile is its value — to make everyone smiles. You can never underestimate how many generosities received by the skeleton charms. Last year, they raised $1950 and changed the lives of eight children. The donation is also available online to www.OperationSmile.ca or call 1-844-376-4530. They are not scary at all but with love!

Want to check out their daily extraordinaries? Way to go: “Smile, laugh, enjoy”! Photos and descriptions of skeletons’ antics are also posted daily on the Skeletons of Vivian Line Facebook page, on Instagram, and at skeletonsofvivianline.c.

Could a Viable Competitor to Tesla Actually be Here? Part 1 - The Porsche Taycan

Everyone’s heard of Tesla Motors and their supercar-beating electric vehicles. It’s gotten to the point that a lot of people essentially idolize the company. This is for good reason too, as Tesla is the first fully-electric company that produced production cars that have the capability to beat something like a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ from 0 - 100 km/h. Up until recently, they haven’t really faced any direct competition. Nobody could top their performance times, and the range gets even more ridiculous. According to Tesla.com, the Model S can travel up to 595.5 km on a single charge (370 miles), which is just absurd for an EV.

The Stanley Cup, the oldest North American Championship trophy, is once again for sale. Wait.. How much is it for? 82 games and 4 playoff rounds of fast paced world-class hockey between the top hockey players in the world. This year, I will be bringing you premium coverage on the hot topic of Stanley Cup news. Never Judge A Book By Its Cover - Mercedes-AMG E63s Wagon

When you think of a wagon, what do you picture? Probably something like an old Volvo 240. Old, rusty, your typical “mom vehicle”. All in all, not really something people want to be associated with. What you probably don’t think of is the ultimate sleeper car. The Mercedes - AMG E63s wagon has a tame enough looking exterior, but when you look at the spec sheet, things get taken to a whole new level. It’s quicker from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) than Mercedes’ flagship supercar, the AMG - GTR, with a time of 3.0 seconds. It boasts 603 horsepower, and a quarter mile time of 11.2 seconds.

For comparison, the Porsche 911 GT3? 0-60 in 3.1 seconds.

That’s right. This wagon is on par with a performance variant of Porsche’s halo model. What a world we live in.

Koenigsegg Sets Yet Another Record

Koenigsegg is a Swedish car company that sets records about as often as you eat meals. Their mission statement? Make titanic hypercars that leave everyone else in the dust.

The debut of the Agera RS in late 2017 marked the beginning of a whole slew of firsts for production cars. It set the record for top speed at 457.94 km/h (284.55 mph), and obliterated Bugatti’s 0 - 400 - 0 km/h time of 42 seconds by almost 6 seconds. They then proceeded to top themselves and beat their own time by an additional 3 seconds.

Valentine's Day Playlist - Jam Sesh with Mech

If you've stood within a 5-mile radius of a supermarket these past couple of weeks, you probably know that it is Valentine's Day tomorrow. Now for some, this is very exciting. They get to have a romantic time with their SO! But if you don't have any romantic connections, Valentine's Day can seem intimidating, or even depressing. Personally, I have never been a big fan of Valentine's Day. I've always felt the expectations for romance are so high and incapable of being fulfilled. I've decided that Valentine's Day shouldn't just be a celebration of monogamy. It should be a celebration of love! So I approached this playlist a little differently than I would usually. These songs are a variety of 'love songs'. Some about sex, some about love, some about friendship and some about breakups. Hope you enjoy! Have a wonderful love day!
