For comparison, the Porsche 911 GT3? 0-60 in 3.1 seconds.
That’s right. This wagon is on par with a performance variant of Porsche’s halo model. What a world we live in.

It’s 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine provides instant forward motion, catapulting you forward with a roar. At full throttle, it reaches 81 decibels even in its normal driving mode, rather than sport. What’s interesting is that it’s performance is more or less on par with the E63s’ sedan variant, despite the added weight.
Speed isn’t the wagon’s only merit, however. A good-looking exterior coupled with a high-quality interior provide all the usual Mercedes luxuries. Alcantara and carbon fiber add a sporty appeal to the cockpit, while materials such as leather still appear and give it a premium feel. Knurled metal knobs and Burmester speaker grilles look and feel upscale. And, of course, the heaps of cargo space that come with a wagon are here too. As you’d expect with a Mercedes, the interior is incredibly quiet.
With performance and luxury like that, why aren’t these things flying off the shelves? Prices start at $143 818.36 CAD, according to caranddriver.com. With fees like that for a wagon, a car style most don’t like to associate with, you can imagine why most people wouldn’t spring for one of these.
They’ll realize their mistake once they get smoked at the drag strip. Not by some big fancy supercar, but by a wagon.
Come back next week for more news from the world of cars.
