Bing! Bing! The dreaded sound of your alarm wakes you up from your beauty sleep.
Your body aches and your head throbs as you get up from bed because you slept late
the night before. If this is you, you may think that mornings are the worst time of the
day. But you’re wrong. Yes, you are— don’t deny it. Here are 8 reasons why mornings
aren’t as bad as you think they may be:
1. You’ll rock it at school!: People who wake up without delaying the alarm clock a trillion
times, are usually more cheerful and face the day with a more hands-on attitude. It has
been scientifically proven by the University of Heidelberg that early birds are extremely
creative and have advanced problem-solving skills. A little effort while waking up, creates
benefits that last you the entire day.
2. Extra time: Think of all the free time you could create! By waking up even an hour
earlier than usual, you could finish a lot of productive tasks. You could finish up homework,
practice a skill, or just take extra long to get ready. You could have the luxury of waking up
early and enjoying a very easy going start to your day.
3. Reliability: If you find yourself procrastinating and often missing deadlines at work or
school, or if you tend to be moody towards your actions and the people around you, then
you might want to consider waking up earlier. According to a study by the American
Academy of Sleep Medicine, nighttime people are less reliable, less emotionally stable
and more likely to have addictions.
4. Creativity: Believe it or not, but some of your greatest ideas are thought during that
drowsy time when you’re only partially awake in the mornings. Your brain has just
restarted its daily functions and it is easier for new and fresher ideas to formulate. Some
of the greatest inventors actually thought of their theories during this time or in their
dreams!
5. Atmosphere: Quiet crisp mornings are the best. The sun is often rising and turning
everything different shades of yellow and orange, most people are still asleep, and it
feels like you have the world to yourself. Open your window, take a deep breath and
relish the coolness. This has proven to be a very effective relaxation technique. It also
affects and improves your mood, giving you a good head start for the day!
6: Exercise: You are more likely to feel energized and ready to exercise in the morning
than later in the day. Your body has just been rejuvenated after a night’s rest and it is ready
to start moving. Go outside, take a run and get your blood pumping. Look at the world
around you as it wakes up from its deep sleep and opens its eyes to the dawn light.
Morning exercise has been proven to calm the senses and improve one’s mood.
7: Improved Routine: When you start waking up early, you end your bad (or good, however
you want to view it) habit of staying up late. You start feeling less sleep deprived and you
can get prepared for school at a relaxed pace.
8: Less Illness: Morning people are much less likely to suffer from sleep issues like
insomnia. In fact, only 20% of early birds reported signs of insomnia compared to the
staggering 40% of night owls. Furthermore, if you wake up in the morning you are also less
likely to sleepwalk or have a sweaty sleep.
All in all, waking up in the morning poses numerous benefits that make the morning the
best time of day. Yes, the BEST time of day and even that is an understatement. Trust me,
mornings seem unbearable at first glance, but when you experience them fully, you will find
that they are the perfect gateway to relaxation.
