October marked the beginning one of the first of the school’s big events, Fall Fest. Despite the rainy weather outside and the low temperatures, clubs and vendors lined “the street” while students, parents, teachers and members of the community of Oakville wandered around eating corn and sweets, listening to performers, and catching up with friends. The atmosphere was cheerful and people were having a very good time.

Honor Society Ceremony 2015
Every year, Iroquois Ridge celebrates the academic achievements of our students, in the form of inspirational speeches, certificates, and mini muffins. While some vouched to sleep in during the collaborative morning of Oct 22nd, many students and their families gathered in the Gym to listen to speeches of academic success, given by a few of our very own students.

Pink Game 2015
As you all know, Iroquois Ridge knows how to create awareness and have a good time doing it! Thursday was no different . The annual pink football game took place. The school store overflowed with pink, amazing breast cancer awareness signs lined the halls and the always energetic student body and staff turned out in droves. Interview with Student Council of 2015-2016
Student Council is back! After last year, it looked like we may not have had a Student Council this year, and everybody was worried about the fate of all the amazing events Student Council has this year. Luckily, Student Council has made its return and all the events are good to go! In light of this good news, we visited the new StudCo last Thursday so that all of us can get to know them better.
Candidate Meeting at IRHS
As a precursor to the federal election and the upcoming Student Vote (which will take place Wednesday, throughout the day), four candidates from IRHS students' two main ridings came to our school on Thursday for a question/answer session to talk about important national issues and the concerns important to their campaigns.

TIFF 2015: Interview with Ms. Morton
Every year, thousands of fans around the world gather in Toronto for what may be the most prestigious film event in the city: the Toronto International Film Festival. Held annually every September, TIFF offers screenings, lectures, discussions, workshops. Tiff is especially known for the celebrity buzz, including exclusive photos and interviews with the stars.
This year, the TIFF went on from September 10th to the 20th with appearances by stars such as Julianne Moore, Ryan Reynolds, Rachel McAdams and Johnny Depp.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the TIFF, I decided to interview Iroquois Ridge’s own Ms. Morton, who shared her experience at the festival with me.

The Near End of School Crisis
We have all heard of the mid life crisis, the quarter life crisis, even the existential crisis. However, as we are all approaching the end of our set paths of childhood, it’s time to choose the next course of action for ourselves, and it is terrifying.
For our whole lives there has always been a set path, but now we are forced to start thinking about our futures. “Choose your electives according to what you want to go into in University. Choose your University major based on what you to do when you grow up. Choose what you want to be when you grow up!”

It seems that dystopian fiction is becoming one of the most popular genres of this generation. Successful novels, such as Divergent, The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner have gotten so many sales, the authors of these popular books have been offered and have accepted movie deals. Obviously, changes must be made from the novel to create the movie. But some of these changes aren’t exactly necessary.
